Lock Manager
This document will cover the Lock Manager in Savance Enterprise. If a user opens a shipper or receiver from the application or HandHeld, a lock is placed on that object in order to prevent multiple users from editing it at the same time. This is a tool to prevent discrepancies in shippers and receivers.
Opening a Locked Release
-
Let's say a user opens a release. The release will immediately be locked so that other users can't edit it. If another non-administrative user tries to open this release, it will be opened in read-only mode. This means that the release can be viewed, but it cannot be edited or changed. The user will be notified based on the text at the top of the release.
-
However, if an admin tries to open a release that is locked, a message will pop up saying who locked the release and when. You are asked if you would like to unlock it. If you click Yes, you will be able to edit this release. If you click No, then it will open in read-only mode as if you were a regular user.
Lock Error Messages
-
If you receive this message box when trying to cancel an order you can use the Lock Manager to remove the lock so you can cancel the order.
Viewing All Locked Releases
-
If you would like to view all releases that are locked, go to Admin > Lock Manager.
-
This brings up the Lock Manager, which displays detailed info about every object that is locked. It displays what is locked, who locked it, what PC they are using, and when it was locked.
-
If you open a release and then refresh the Lock Manager (which can be done by pressing F5), you will notice that it is automatically locked and shows up on the list in the Lock Manager.
-
You can also view or unlock any object by right-clicking on it.
